Default New guy from uk

Hey

Names Carl, from Surrey. I'm going to look at a 2001 cbr600f tomorrow and I'm looking for some information regarding what I should be looking out for.

The bikes advertised as cash damaged, from what I've gathered it's just front forks and front wheel and some of the fairing. I have no pictures of the bike but ill grab some tomorrow.

Cheers, speak soon.

Check the frame for cracks! If the forks have damage, then I would assume the headstock took some of the impact force as well. If the frame is ok, everything else is easy/cheap-ish to replace.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah my first port of call is gonna be the headstock and surrounding areas.

Welcome to the CBR Forum Carlos,

I think you'll find the owners, not the bikes are generally 'cash damaged'

Post some pictures, but look carefully for damage around the headstock and for frame twist.

Cheers, SB

Welcome to the forum Carlos.

If there is any doubt about the bike and damage, walk away. There are plenty of bikes out there.

I will do. I already have a bike so im in no rush to buy. Its just im looking for a big bike now so id rather wait and find someone decent ish. Funds are tight though. Im not fussed about cosmetic damage. Ill definitely keep a keen eye out for structural damage though.

Thanks guys

Take what you will from the pictures. Its in tidy condition considering the crash he had. Come round a blind bend and there was already a crash. Hit the brakes, front slid out and bike went flipping into another bike, both went crashing into the trees. The only bent in the fork is where the stancion meets the lower part. Only a slight bend too. The fairing and crash protector took the brunt of it.

So, it's costing me £500. WELL happy.

That's not too bad of a deal for 500. I'm not sure what your intentions are with it - and I have no idea what parts cost in the UK. I'm assuming the motor is in great running order - if you get it home and realized a bigger problem with the frame - I'm sure you could get 500 pounds or so out of just the motor and gas tank. Does it by chance carry any of the parts that are advertised (Ohlins) on the side?

Welcome to the forum, btw!
