New Guy with a F2
Been lurking for a few days now and decided to jump in.
This is my first street bike and im excited to finally purchase one.
Ive been in the dirt scene for a bit and wanted to take the plunge on a street bike.
Just bought a 91 CBR600 F2 with 28,xxx on the clock. Has the 99 F4 fairings on it from the previous owner. Front looks fine, but the rear, I have no idea what he was thinking with that. That will be fixed and mounted properly.
Here are a couple pics.
Needs some work as it doesn't run at moment, but from what i gathered from him sounds like the R/R has gone south, some wiring cleaned up and lots of cosmetic Help as he rattle canned most of the bike.
Looking forward to this as im sure it will be another project in my stable.

hmmm that's an interesting paint job on the rear.
so did he make his own subframe? it looks like it and with the f2, it's welded to the frame - do you know how to weld? because it looks like it'll take some grindin' and weldin' to get it to where you want it
what are your plans with it?
welcome to the CBRF!

The rear is attached to the original subframe with homemade brackets and screws. A interesting job to mount them that way.
Ill be moving it back where it should be and getting a F4 seat instead of what's on there and redoing the paint on it, rattle can style of my own.
It definetly is a lot of work but this is what I love anyway so its fine.
As far as what I want from the bike. A nice looking and running bike I can go on rides with friends and to head to and from work. Hopefully save some gas over my BMW M3.
For a few hundred dollars, i couldn't pass it up as I love a good challenge and project.

Thanks
I pulled the plastics off today to see why the bike doesn't run and found the wiring.to be a mess.
The starter solenoid wires looked burned like it shorted on the frame ,the headlight wires aren't even hooked to anything and who know what else yet.
The fuel petcock was replaced by some sort of on/off valve.
Definetly a project for sure. I kinda knew what I was getting into, but what better way to learn the bike by digging in to it.
Im going to pull the tank tomorrow and see what's under there.

Well here is a update with my F2
Parts Replaced as they were in the Whats the hell happened or what were they thinking stage.
Main wiring harness was a cut, spliced and hacked mess- Replaced
R/R was burned and melting - Replaced with GSXR one
Starter Solenoid was shorted and burned- Replaced with a new one
Homemade petcock - Replaced with F3 petcock
front brake switch broken- replaced
Radiator Leaking- Replaced
Right hand control corroded- replaced
Ignition switch corroded-replaced
Plug wires corroded-replaced
installed Horn, was missing
Also found out why the engine would crank and backfire but not start.
The ignition coil feed wires were crossed
Im sure im forgetting some things but she runs and sounds good, except the low end sputtering. Carbs will come off for a good cleaning and sync here shortly. 100+ degree weather is not very fun to work in here in Vegas.
For your amusement, here is the homemade petcock that was on there
