Default New to the forums and have some questions

Hey all, Im new to the forums and have some questions.

Im an extremley new rider, and I havent even bought my first bike. I'm 19 also. I first just wanted a bike from Honda, just because I knew the most about them, and knew they were reliable. With that being said, my intentions for my first bike were to get a f4i. After browsing the forums for a little ive realized that maybe starting on a smaller cc bike would be a good choice.

So Ive been reading around, and saw that someone mentioned to get the Kawasaki Ninja 250 for a first bike. I looked it up, and found that I can get it at good prices and it seemed like what I was going to do. As of right now its what my mind is set on, bt I was wondering, are there any other bikes around 250, 300 maybe 350cc, that could be good starter bikes, maybe even some from Honda?

Im jsut trying to explore my options, as a new rider. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum. Good luck with what ever bike you go with. Right off hand, if you're sticking with sportbikes, they don't get much smaller that around 500cc unless you do the Ninja 250R which retails for about 3k. Are you looking at new or used and what kind of budget?

I'm def looking for used.

I'll prolly get the 250r, since it doesnt seem there are any other bikes that seem like good sarter bikes. and plus good stater bikes=easy on the budget.

Another problem I have is, I may want to upgrade to a larger bike once I feel like I'm ready. I'd either want my 250 to be used enough to where it doesnt seem like that much of a dent on money if I cant sell it...like if its pretty banged up..OR I could get a pretty nice one, take care of it(I'll take care of any bike, but you know) and hopefully wont drop it...so I can just sell it for some money to help me buy my new bike.

I guess it all depends on what deals I can find.

I know I'll get bashed for this... but I don't disagree with starting out on a 600 size bike. Are you mature enough to respect what can happen if you open the throttle? How do you drive now?

A 250 will get you hurt just as quick as a 600 or a liter size bike. I think the F4 makes a great starter bike and long term bike. I've been riding for years and I'm still happy with a 600. One thing to think about also is insurance. More cc's = more $$$ in most states.

You might look at craigslist.org in your local area for a used 250 or 600. I'm not trying to talk you into a bigger bike, but I know money is hard to come by and getting stuck with a bike you can't sell hurts.

Hello & Welcome!!

There is the 250R that may be shipped from the UK, I believe. Then there is the 500 Ninja.
