Hey guys and gals,

I have a 1990 CBR 1000f. My father gave it to me. It was in bad shape since it sat on the side of the house for many year due to mechanical issues. Cam Chain tensioner needed to be replaced and had some electrical issues. When I got the bike I stripped it down to the frame. Cleaned up the rust and repainted. Reinstalled the engine and recently go it running again. When the odometer stopped working it read 65,500+ miles. That was in like 1998 ish. He stopped riding it in 2005 when he bought a new CBR1100XX. I am supprised that it still runs. Right now I am re-running electrical and vacuum lines and trying to get it to idle. It is a fun project and can not wait to get it out on the road. If anyone has a CBR1000f in the 1990 era and can assist with my vaccum issues please let me know!!

Welcome to the forum.

Looks like you are doing a fine job of getting it back on the road. There are lots of helpful members that have and know all about those bikes. When you get a minute, have a look around the hurricane section. You may find that your questions have already been answered over there already .

Welcome to the CBR Forum,

And thanks for posting the pictures of your project. You seem to be well on the way to getting her back on the road.

Do you have a manual, which I seem to remember details the runs of the vacuum lines. There is a link on the website for a download.

Cheers, SB

Sweet looking rebuild AM.

As Seb said, the manual has good details of all the loom runs, cables, pipework etc.
If you get stuck give us another shout. There are plenty of 90ish owners here.
If you want specific pictures of an original bike I can also help you. Be specific and your wish is my tease.

Thanks for the warm welcome and thanks for your advice. I do have a manual and it has helped a ton. Right now I am trying to figure out how to run the vacuum lines WITHOUT running the canister and other emissions B.S. It will be a challenge for sure. She started up for the first time in 5 or 6 years last night. Fairly excited. Sounds great especially since the motor has near 100,000 miles and never been rebuilt.

Henry, maybe you can help me out with this... The fuel valve has 3 lines that come off of it. One is for fuel distribution, one is for vacuum to open and close the diaphragm and one is a drain I am assuming. I know where the fuel line goes onto the carbs but not the other one (or two)... Little help

Am,
the large outlet from the petcock is for the fuel pipe. The other smaller horizontal one is for the vacuum pipe which attaches to Carb No. 1. The bottom outlet is not used. No pipe connection required to this.

Hope that helps.

All of that I knew. Anyway you can snap a picture of where on #1 carb it attaches? That would be perfect!
