Default New England checking in

Hello everybody,

New rider here! Picked up a 96' CBR 900rr from a buddy of mine, and I'll have it on the road next week.
*yes i know, that is WAY too big for a first bike...right? but I'm not new to two wheel transport*

I used to cruise around Seattle on an old Honda Nighthawk 650, and dirt bike a bit, but it has been a few years. Downhill single track mountain biking is another passion of mine.

Finally able to save up and buy myself a bike.

Taking a 16 hour Basic Riding Course at the end of April and I hope to learn a lot from that as well. I have already learned a bunch from this forum.

Anywho, just saying hi.

Here she is: The picture definitely makes it look WAY better than it does, but the previous owner included a new complete set of fairings that I will put on in a few months once I am fairly comfortable. Hell, for $1,500 what more could you ask for?

Welcome to the CBR Forum,

Yes big bike for a return, so even though you've got it fairly sorted - do take it easy out there, wear all your safety gear and enjoy the ride.

Cheers, SB

Welcome!

I don't think it's too big. You have been out on two wheels before and your taking the right courses to make you a better rider. Be careful out there, the idiots don't care what your riding. They will try to kill you all the same.

Finally got it on the road yesterday after spending the morning at the DMV... What a fun place

She rides awesome! Did a 10 mile loop at lunch, then a 40 mile trip going to a few towns over. Freeways were interesting with some cross winds.

I can't wait for the weather to get above 50. 31 degrees today... hah

nice and warm today...sky is still gray and I can hear tiny ice pellets grazing my back windows of my house... yes im right in boston, about two min from downtown.. you should check out this website I found.. a lot of people from mass use it to get together and go for group ries, its called "meetup" just do a google search. ive actually joined a couple of the bikey groups.. they seem petty cool.. anyway without a doubt this is one of the best Honda sites around... you wont find any bad eggs here... its a really well maintained site with lots of resources..
you need any help with anything just ask.. oh and by the way I have a few 9's of my own...
have a good day shoveling.
