Default New CBR1000F owner from New Zealand

Hi, I have just picked up a 1987 CBR1000f that has suffered a really bad attempt at tryng to turn it into a streetfighter (fairing removed, fairing bracket cut and weird looking headlight cable tied on). Slowly collecting the parts to return it to stock. I have one question, the previous owner has painted it really badly with a rattle can so there is black paint over everthing. That means I have no idea what position the fuel tap is in. Can anyone tell me where on, reserve and prime are? The tap is pointing straight up at the moment.

Hi jim, welcome to the CBRF. Lots of 1000f owners on this forum and I'm sure they won't mind providing any info you need to get your new baby back in shape. Unfortunately, I'm not one of them, I just wanted to say welcome aboard. Also, drop in on them in the 1000f section and I can assure you you'll get a warm welcome there as well as answers to all your questions. Post some pics if you can, we'd all like to see the resurrection as it happens. Good luck with the project and happy riding to you!

oh wow - sounds like you have a good project on your hands. Post up some pics of your restoration. There are lots of guys around here that i'm sure can help you out.

I'd probably start in the hurricane section.

Down is reserve.
Up is on.
Pointing to the rear is off.

Welcome to the site, Jim, and good luck with the build! People do some crazy stuff to bikes sometimes. Hopefully, you can find some plastics and stays for cheap money somewhere.
