New CBR

Hello guys and gals;

This is my first post - the forum looks to be the best for everything mods, detailing, tech so I just signed up this morning after picking up my new CBR yesterday.

My first bike I bought last April (2010) it was a 2009 Ducati Monster 696 that was an amazing first bike. Just over a year and riding season isn't long enough here in Ontario I put 23k on it. Just as the 24k service was coming up I happened across a new old stock 2009 CBR600 tricolour. The price was right and I've always liked Hondas. I grew up with a 1985 CR60, my Dad has had all kinds of Hondas (50cc and 70's CT70) when he was growing up, my brother raced Hondas in motorcross and we've had a three wheeler as with my grandpa. I was partial to BMW bikes and I quite liked my Ducati but if it came to a Japanese sport bike I couldn't consider anything but a Honda.

I put over 300k on it yesterday and the first thing that comes to mind is that I always thought I preferred the V twin until I had a nice extended ride on this inline engine. I really cannot believe how smooth it accelerates, how versatile the gears are and hw much jam it has as you rev it up. In comparison it makes the monster look very limited in it's rev range and gearing.

I love that it's liquid cooled and has a fuel gauge.

The way it handles is amazing, it really dips into the corners nicely compared to the monster.

There's no "quirkiness" or "character" with the Honda like they describe on Ducati which is a nice way of saying it leaks oil and its apparently normal. The Honda is ultimate reliability and runs like a Swiss watch every time.

the tricolour is beautiful.

I'm planning to do a couple things that I'll investigate in the mods section - probably remove the engine covers and rip off the rear fender.

What type of fuel range are you guys getting per tank?

I will snap a couple shots over the weekend and get them on here.

I traded the Ducati - the more miles that I threw on it I figured it'd be harder to sell because on the used market they are typically pretty low mileage - under 15k.
