hi there
I ride since 1999 a Honda CBR 600 F4 PC35. Now my bike is getting old and has more and more issues.Luckily, the engine is still running smooth!
I registered to this board as I hope I might get some support to fix this and that on my bike. I am no pro at repairing. My skills are reduced to changing the liquids, brakes and tyres. For everything regarding the engine I need a real mechanic.
The reason why I finally registered today is that my throttle handle gets stuck sometimes and compared to my other bikes, it's quite hard to open/close the throttle as it drags somewhere. Of course I will use the search function, before I'll make a new thread about. I'm sure there are already a lot of solutions to my problem.
Thank all of you who participate in this board and who shares his knowledge!

Greetings & Salutations!!! Let's see photos of your bike.
Two common sources of friction in throttle:
1. grip to handlebar. Best to use dry lubrication here, like graphite powder
2. cables. Disconnect cables off throttle, hold vertically, and drip oil down inner-wire and "floss" it in & out. Continue to drip in oil until it runs out other end of cable. Repeat for other cable.
If your intent is to take it to a mechanic for anything other than trivial work - spray some dry lube between the throttle grip and the switch unit - if that doesn't improve things, take it to your mechanic.
Dry lube spray is useful for all kinds of things. Don't use WD40 though!
is "silicone spray" a suitable dry lube? That's one thing I have already
a little research on the web suggested to use "bicycle chain oil" for the bowden cables. I do have bicycle chain oil. Do you think that is suitable as well? Of course I might buy some specific bowden cable oil - but I have never used that kind of oil since 1999. So I would prefer not to buy some specifc oil for a "one time task".
search result suggest to take care of the bowden cables according their type: unlined / PTFE (Teflon) or Nylon or lined cables. Which one does the CBR 600 F4 PC35 have?
Really need to determine where friction is occuring:
1. disassemble throttle, you may find mis-alignment is causing rubbing of throttle-tube on grip housing
2. test throttle-tube motion on bar by itself. If bar is rough and corroded, clean that up and polish, or replace. Use only dry graphite to lube, nothing liquid. It will attract dirt and dry into sticky goo!
3. test throttle-cable smoothness by pulling on inner-wire of cables my hand. Most likely they're smooth and not causing your issue. Otherwise squirt/drip silicone or teflon oil down cable to free up. This works for non-lined cables as well

I would avoid silicon spray - Anything it goes on is impossible to paint in the future - use a dry teflon.
If you;re going to lube the cables - do it properly or not at all - a few drops of oil isn't going to help much - you need to use a pressure cable luber and proper cable lube to blast all the crud out. It's WELL WORTH THE EFFORT though - I did my choke at year 20 and it was miraculous.
