LOWERING

RE: LOWERING
This has been covered here a few times. First off why do you want to lower the bike? If it's too tall for you. Try shaving the seat foam or finding some boots with bigger soles. Anytime you lower a bike it's going to change the handeling for the worse. Avoid it at all costs if you can.

RE: LOWERING
I AM ENJOYING THE BIKE, BUT HAVE WRIST PROBLEMS THAT FLARE AFTER EXTENDED RIDING...HAVE NOTICED NOT AS BAD WITH RIDER ON BACK. I THOUGHT THE DIFFERENT STANCE MIGHT BE TAKING WEIGHT OFF OF MY WRIST, WAS LOOKING AT CRUISER BUT WAS AFRAID BULGING DISC IN BACK WOULD BE A PROBLEM ON IT. AFTER THINKING OF THIS I WENT WITH 87' HURRICANE 1000. NOT TO SHORT JUST NOT 100% HEALTHY.

Buy the throttle rocker - it's cheaper and probably will be more effective. It's a plastic piece that goes on your throttle, that allows you to have a more relaxed grip. You may want to loosen your grip and try to relax. You could also take your hands off and shake them out a little while your riding. Try that first before lowering it. Let me know if it helps.

First try replacing your grips with some new aftermarket grips. Secondly replace your bar ends. Third buy the throttle rocker. It's great. I have one and I love it for long trips or riding on the interstate. It's not too practical for city stop & go traffic. I think I paid $7 for mine at cycle gear.
Also make sure when you are riding, keep your elbows bent and arms relaxed. I wouldn't be suprised to hear you have a death grip on the bars. Loosen up and relax. As Pits said, take your hands off from time to time and shake them out.
Worst case senario, you may have something worse going on. For the first year I was riding, my left hand would always go numb. No matter what I did, it would go numb after about 20 minutes of riding. It turned out I had severe carpal tunnel in my left wrist. I tried everything to treat it. Finally this year I gave in and had the surgery. It was the best thing i've ever done. Ever since then, I haven't had any issues at all. Do you wake up at night or in the morning with any of your fingers or thumb numb? If so thats a good sign you might have carpal tunnell syndrome.
