Default Just bought my first bike!!

Hi all, so Saturday I finally got my first bike, a black and yellow 2001 cbr 929rr. This is the first bike I have owned, but not the first that ive ridin. I have been riding for several years just never been able to buy my own bike. I'm currently in the army stationed at fort hood, so if anyone is in the area I'd love to find some people to ride with as I'm currently riding solo. Anyway I stumbled onto this forum while looking up info on idling temps for the 929 and found a lot of good info on here. So I'm pretty excited to join the community. Any thanks for reading!!

Also if anyone is reading this and can tell me how to post pics. I'm currently on my iPhone, so not sure if I can from here

Here she is, before I wen and looked at this bike in person I was all about the erion edition or the whit and red ones, but as soon as I saw I fell in love with the color. The only problem with it cosmetically is a dent on the left side of the tank. Not a huge deal but hope to someday either replace the tank or figure out ho to pull a dent haha. As far as mods, it's a got the full two brothers exhaust and rear blinker integrated with the passenger foot pegs. I'd like to eventually get a PC and a steering damper, not sure which brands are the best as far as dampers go, I've heard good thing Scott's? I'm open to opinions and suggestions though. Thanks SB for the photo link! Let me know what you think of the bike!!

Welcome to the forum.

Nice bike! 929s are in short supply these days. Congrats on finding one in good shape.

As far as dampers go, I have a Scott's and really like it.

Its a clean looking bike... Buddy of mine just totaled his 929... Tried to make an adjustment mid turn and lost it off the side of hill into a tree... He walked away with some scrapes and bruises but the bike wasn't so lucky... Sliders saved it till the tree got it

Thanks for the replies!!! Demon, I've spent a few years looking for a 929 that was destroyed from being stunted or the seller wanted 6000+ for, I was so excited when I pinned this one down I put over 200 miles on her the first day haha, my wife might start getting jealous if I'm not careful. And halzinky, I'm sorry to hear about you buddy, glad to hear he's alright, that stuff is always scary to hear about, got a call from my mom a couple weeks ago telling me my dad had wrecked his cruiser, riding home at night came over some tracks and hit a crater in the pavement on other side of tracks, got thrown over the bars totaled the bike, left him missing pant legs and a fare amount of skin in some spots a a messed up knee and plenty of black and blue. Luckily it was a relatively low speed wreck. But hey guys thanks for commenting, and thanks demon for the input on the damper, I don't get too crazy while riding but I've heard some horror stories of dampers saving lives, so I'm thinkin ill save up and make that my first upgrade

LOL...I don't think I've even seen a pristine 954 (what I have) list for $6000, in the past year or so when I started looking for one.

Be advised, there are no new steering dampers for these bikes available for less than around $500. You can occasionally find them in the classifieds here, but they are gone within a day or two.

In addition to Scott's, Ohlins also makes a damper for these bikes, as well as some other brand I can't think of at the moment.

Welcome and congrats on your acquisition. The 929 was one of the bikes on my list under consideration before I got my '54.
