just bought FX track bike..
Hi all, just joined.
Did my first track day a few weeks back and absolutely loved it. I was riding my road bike ('96 GSXR 750) and the only downer for the day was the fear of crashing and not having transport afterwards. The day also munted my nice new BT016s and left my clutch feeling very strange, though it seems to have miraculously healed itself.
I've been saving to get a bigger/newer road bike but the track day changed my priorities a bit. I'm not really brand loyal, have owned Honda, Kawasaki and Suzuki and have had good and bad bikes from the same manufacturer (my TLs was a turd that refused to be polished) so I was basically looking for something around 600cc and track ready, I'll keep the SRAD for road duties
I got this:
I figure it's probably as pokey as the GSXR whilst being significantly smaller and lighter, should be fun!
I have a track day booked this week, will be the first time I give it a proper ride. I took it up and down the street once or twice but it's a bit conspicuous so I haven't had much oppertunity to get a feel for the bike. Clutch was grabby as f*** though, hopefully the oil change will help. We'll see
Known spec:
Tuned motor (flowed, jetted, possibly other mods, unkown power)
Full Hindle system with carbon can
K&N filter
Ohlins rear shock (remote preload etc)
Maxton reworked forks
Ohlins steering damper (harris fitting kit)
Harris fairing bracket
Harris clip ons
HRC overflow bottles (mounted behind clocks)
Elliott Rev Counter
Race temp gauge (water and oil for some reason)
Harris rearsets
Braided brake lines
Carbon/Kevlar fairing and seat unit
more pics:
Cheers!

Well, Snetterton was great fun. I went with my mate (he has a 990 superduke), it was our 2nd track day and the morning was spent riding quick, but fairly upright on the bike.
After a bit of a talk by one of the instructors we decided to put some effort into technique and the afternoon was much better. Both got our knees down for the 1st time. Here's a few pics:
that superduke is so cool..
The little CBR needs some work. One disc carrier is bent and it causes the front to grab with every turn of the wheel, it's bad enough to make the front bounce with every revolution of the wheel under 20mph and above that the brakes are just ****.
It's running rich and there's fuel getting into the oil
Apart from that it's great - the handling is goooooood.. It gets a bit frisky out of turns but the damper takes care of big shakes.
I spent one session following a guy on a F4i and was backing off down the straights to stay behind (he had a really nice technique through the corners that I was trying to learn from), I kept up with my mate's duke in a straight line pretty easy as well plus passed a 919 blade down the straight and didn't loose too much ground to a blackbird (had him in the corners too). There was such a mix of people (novice day) that I can't get too excited about the performance though - the slowest bikes on the day were a 1098 and a MVF4
So, going to buy new discs and possibly pads. Not sure about the fuelling though, might have to sort that over winter and just change the oil before next track day that will hopefully be in a couple of weeks. Never really played with carbs before and I don't trust myself to fix it in time!
