Hi. Just joined the forum today as yesterday I bought an '88 cbr for £450 ($720). Battered plastics and rusty screws but seems to run okay. What should I look for ( apart from cops in the mirror) regarding engine condition? Cheers in advance. SPC.

Hey, welcome to the CBR Forum SPC,

You bought an 88 CBR what? 1000? 600? Let us know and we should be able to point you in the right direction. How amny kilometres (ok miles in the UK) has it done, no cam chain rattle?

Cheers, SB

Welcome to CBRF!

Congrats on your new-to-you bike. What model is it?

Give it the TLC it deserves & it will be a reliable bike.

Welcome.
I'd be looking for external broken motor parts that match the fairings.

Sorry guys it's a cbr600f 1988 but not registered until 1995 and it gets hot in traffic. Cheers. SPC.

I tried to reply in my last thread but I can't access it. Why is this?

Good bike, ive owned two 600's and last week i just picked up an 88 1000f. Been sitting for 7 yrs, going through the process of waking her up, (changing all fluids, new plugs, wires, and cleaning the carbs). Good luck, and i'll be needing some tips from the vets on here, seems like a good bunch of people on here!

Hope you didn't buy a dog - sorry couldn't resist !

Welcome to the asylum !

The 600 is a great bike.

Oh BTW - Mars is a great place to live I hear but very difficult for us to help you find the spares you will need. I guess somewhere in the UK......?
