Default Introduction

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,

My name is Pete, and I'm a new Forum member. I bought a 93 CBR1000F last year, and am loving it. I started riding at a late age, when I turned 51 years old. I'm 53 now. My son began riding, and it motivated me to do the same. Better late than never! I started out with a 2009 Ninja 650, but immediately began aching for an older liter bike. The chug chug chug of a parallel twin was not what I was looking for. I wanted the smoothness of a 4 banger. So I did some research and found the 90's CBR1000F. I fell in love with it's looks, and new that was what I wanted. I found this one up in Michigan. It was in pretty good shape, but needed a few things to get it up to snuff. I ride as often as I can, and am enjoying it tremendously.

I'm looking forward to being part of your community!

p.s. tried to upload a couple pics, but got an error message saying a security token was missing. Greek to me.

Welcome to CBRF!

We mostly use the IMG links from Photobucket. Glad to hear you've found a bike that you've been wanting (an older i4). You found the online destination for Hurricanes! What does your son ride? Most of us here have a pretty big admiration of all things two wheels.

Thanks for your welcome! My son started out with a 96' Ninja 500. He sold that and now has a 1986 Ninja 1000R. It's in beautiful shape, and sounds magnificent.

Nice looking '93 Pete. Looks like someone lowered the front end. If you want to put her back, you can put a floor jack under the tang on the sump. Then loosen the triple clamps and slide the fork tube down until the clips on the tubes mate up with the upper clamp.

Thanks for your kind words! Yes, the previous owner lowered the bike. Not only did he lower the front, but he modified the dog bones in back. He had a friend cut them, shorten them, and weld them back together. I like it lowered, and am going to keep it that way.

I'll stop by the Hurricane Section soon. Out of curiosity, is a '93 truly a Hurricane? I thought that name was dropped along the way somewhere before '93.

Hey Pete,

The 'Hurricane' name was officially dropped from the line in 1989; however, the bike was never given a replacement name so it was often still referred to by its original title.

We all know and love them as Hurricanes, and so that they shall remain!

Cheers, SB
