Default Insurance question

Hey guys.....I just bought my first bike after years of wanting one! A 94 CBR600F2...

Anyway....I don't have my license yet, but I do have my permit and i would like to register the bike in order to practice on it. I need insurance to do that, and Rider won't insure me without my license. I have geico for car insurance, but they wont insure my bike because of an accident I had in june 2002....I would have to wait until june of this year. Any ideas of other insurnace companies in New Jersey that would insure me with just my permit??

Thanks! See you on the road soon...

how do you have GEICO? If you have it because you're military, you can use USAA. I called them and they wrote a policy through Progressive for half of what Progressive quoted me at. I'm paying $100 a month... that's the cheapest I could find and I have a clean driving record and I'm old. But most will insure you without having your license.

No luck there. I live in NJ and if you have larger than a 250cc motorcycle you can not have insurance or register it without your license. WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR GET YOUR LICENSE....LOL

WTF.... I can't believe insurance companies ask about a license. So, if you lose you license... how do you maintain insurance on a vehicle you have a loan for? I've never had anyone ask if I had a license, if you're buying the bike or for insurance.

HAHA....I'm getting my license...don't worry. I slept on the MSF courses, and they were all closed when I was ready to register, so I am stuck doing it the old fashioned way. My road test is scheduled for 11/29, but I would like to practice on my bike before then.

MOst places in IA require a license to insure you. One place you have to be 26 or they won't insure a sport bike at all. I pay $41 a month right now with State Farm. I am 24 and have no accidents.

If you were only military...some stations will allow you to practice on the actual course driving area as long as someone 18+ is there with you in case you injure yourself...they can dial 911. The best bet is to find someone you know that owns a business and has a large parking lot that will allow you to practice a little. Once you get your license...get your insurance and ride her like you stole her.

So just to update...for anyone facing the same problems I was in NJ....I did manage to get insurance. I got it through Foremost Insurance at an annual premium of almost $600 for just liability. The insured me on just a permit....and I can cancel whenever...so as soon as I get my license I can switch over to Rider for $173 a year for liability......at least now I can register and ride the bike!

And yes....auto insurance of any kind SUCKS in NJ.....it is expensive and such a pain to get, but you have to have it. It's the ultimate racket.
