Default I went with the 06 F4

I went ahead and purchased the 06 today. I was looking in the manual on the break in procedure. All it said was take it easy for 300 miles. Seems like I read on a forum that there was more to breaking it in than 300 miles of easy riding??

How did you guys/gals break in your bikes ??

Thanks,

Joe

Hello and welcome to the site.

The one thing everyone agrees to, I think... is to vary the RPM. Don't do a lot of highway riding in the same gear.

Welcome. The number one thing I hear also is make sure you vary the speeds you drive at first, don't just drive around town or the highways. Best of luck with your new bike. Post some pics if you get a chance.

I just got an 06 F4i in January and I have reached over the 300 mark. I was told to go to 600 and then take it in. About easy riding the other guys here have said very well. Vary the Speeds and RPM and don't give her hell quite yet. Take it easy and enjoy. You have many more miles of fun in you future.

Which color did you go with?

My mechanic recomended that for the first 500 miles I should keep 'er under 4grand most of the time. But like others are saying here, you should vary the rpms in doing so. He also said that it was cool to get on it and get up in the power band, but to do so slowly and then not to stay in there for too long. If you do that, he says that after the 500 mark... you should take it in for a tune up... fluid change, adjustments and tighten everything all up. After that... GAME ON!
