I need advice for buying...
Hello everyone thanks for reading this(and hopefully helping me out)! I am looking for a first bike and found a 2002 CBR F4i with a salvage title. I went to look at it and it starts and runs beautifully! There is quite a bit of damage to the fairings however, its gonna need a new chain, a new front brake handle, a new back tire soon, and I noticed a drop or two of oil under the bike. Everything else seemed to look great mechanically just the scrapes and small holes/missing screws made me worried. Test drive showed exellent quality mechanically I just wanted to see what other people thought about buying a bike in this condition...Thank you for any imput its much needed!
12xxx miles, stock other than exaust,
(also I recieved a confirmed offer of $2900)

I voted to buy , but not at that price..
When buying damaged bikes three things come into the equation.
How much in parts is required?
Can you do the repairs yourself?
How much will labor cost if a shop did it all for you ?
I personally think that you should also make allowance for the fact that the repair costs should include having them done at a shop (labor)
Having said this ,IMPO. the $2900 for a 2002 600F4i is up too a $1000 to high..
You can buy one of them if you look around for around $3500 in mint...and then just get on and enjoy it , not having to repair it first...
I suppose its up to you really? .
If you feel the urge to do the repairs yourself and don't mind spending $4000 minimum total ....

Run away from the bike at that price. You can buy a really nice 01 or 02 f4i with a clean title for $3k cash, especially considering it's the winter.
A week ago I bought a '00 f4 with a salvage title and 18k miles for $1000, it only had a cracked stator cover, and he gave me an extra stator cover, and a couple scratches on the fairings. Also I might have to replace the front rotors cuz it pulses some.
In my opinion, an 02 f4i with salvage title isn't worth 2900 with all the repairs done. Maybe like $2300 tops. In the condition it's in now, and considering it's the winter, I would say the most you should pay is $1500..
