Default Howdy From Dallas

Hello everyone. I have had my '09 600RR for about 2 months and just rolled over 1100 miles today. I have been riding on and off for over 10 years and this is by far my favorite bike.

Thanks for the warm welcome! The bike is dirty right now but, if the sun comes out tomorrow I will wash it and get some pics. It is (currently) still 100% stock red/black.

Speaking of, does anyone have any favorite tips or tricks for washing their CBR? Any hard to reach spots?

As far as track days go, it is something that I am interested in doing at some point. Right now I have 2 kids in high school and all the sports and activities that go along with that so I am happy just to have time to get out and ride. My 14 y/o has her eye on an Aprilia RS 125 she wants to put on the track but she has some time yet before that happens lol. That said, randyjoy, whats your favorite track to go to and which would you recommend for a first timer? What's a ballpark number I would have to spend to get my bike and myself (gear wise I suppose) track ready?

i am careful not to spray water on my gages or the controls , i use car soap , and soft terry cloth towel, i then use my air compressor with a nozzle to blow dry. Once a year i pull the fairings off and clean engine and subframe, doing a detail makes a big difference. Just be careful not to spray water onto or into any wireing harnesses or plugs, youll make probs for your self... good luck bro

Eagles Canyon is probably my favorite (http://www.eaglescanyon.com). ECR also puts on some trackdays, but doesn't include the all the instruction that RideSmart does (RideSmart is a school with classroom, etc). Your bike only needs tape and a wrench to get ready, you need boots, gloves, jacket and pants or full suit. First timer at a RideSmart event can get leather and boot rental for free; trackday runs $100-$150 depending on the track. Click on the "RideSmart Instructor" link in my signature for more info. PM me if you have more questions, be glad to answer.

Yeah, the hard to reach spots are always a beatch. I generally don't "wash" my bikes all that often, but just spray down the plastics with meguier's ultimate detailer and wipe 'em down. Then I use WD40 on wheels and hard parts.
I do a full spray wash only once in a while.... or when it gets really bad.
