Talking how to find a missing title to my bike

I bought my bike from a freind. And he bought it from a storage auction. No title no nothing I hav the bike and I ran the vin and it comes back nothing. I can't match the numbers on the bike to anything

It all depends on the state in which you live. Every state has their own set of rules.
At a minimum you will probably need a notorized bill of sale that includes the VIN.
You need to contact your local DMV. They will tell you what you need.

Im not sure what state you are in, but here in Cali if you lost the title you can apply for a new one thru the DMV. Of course they are going to make you pay a fee. Your friend just needs to make you a bill of sale and then you will need to fill out an application for a new title. Start here, this may help:
