How could I have missed this place?
Hi guys and girls.
I'm looking forward to exploring the forums here. I own a 929 that I bought new in 2000. I still love the thing. It still runs great and looks good too, since it's the faster yellow and black color. It that joke old, or what?
It has an Ohlins shock, a Hindle full system, a Scotts damper, and that's it. It's been great on the track. Never dumped it after 65 days. It can still hold it's own just fine too. It's been stone reliable. Gotta love that Honda quality. Now I have another bike just for the track, so I just recently returned it to street duty. I never thought a bike could take such a pounding, and still run so strong. I way underestimated the durability.
Anyway, let's see what up in the forums.

Here's the 929 in action on the track, dressed in track bodywork. Then there is the pic of the 929 back in street trim, sitting in my driveway. And finally, there is a shot of my new track bike. I bought Jessica Zalukski's old 2002 GSXR750. I've been working on that one all year to get it handling right for me, and to resolve all kinds of issues. I just put a Brembo master on it this last weekend.

Welcome to the forum - glad to have you around. Sounds like you'll have a lot to offer in terms of track experience and wrench turning advice. C ya 'round.

I'm getting more wrenching experience all the time with the 750. I replaced the shift star with one from a GSXR1000 this year, because it has the same profile as the Factory Pro aftermarket shift star. Over the winter, I will be opening the transmission and replacing the shift forks and drum, and I'm not yet sure what else. You know what's funny? That 929 has all those track days on it, and 27,000 miles, and has had no problems at all. The GSXR had tranny problems, brake problems, suspension problems. The GSXR has under 10k miles on it. I rode the Honda all those days and miles without a single crash, but the 750, I crashed it within the first 40 minutes of having it on the track, and cracked off the footpeg mounting tabs.
But, now that I'm getting it sorted out, it does handle better, and it sure does have motor. The motor has been tweaked in some ways, but I am not sure exactly what has been done. I spoke to Jessica, and she said that is between her and her mechanic. All I know is, it pulls harder than the good old 929. I saw 172 on the speedo with stock gearing at Road America this year, for what its worth.
The 929 has been my favorite bike of all time though. The best all around bike I've ever owned, out of 14 bikes I've had over the years. But now it has done it's duty and I've retired it from the track.
