I'm not new here "per say", but I haven't had a CBR for some time! Ive been riding and wrenching since I was 14, so I've got some years under my belt. Just purchased a 1995 CBR1000000000F and am going to be bringing it back to life from a 12 year sleep... Lots to do and I'm sure I'll have LOTS OF QUESTIONS! Nice to meet yall
just got the flux compressor and accelerometer working again on my hover bike... still need to replace the floater mic doohicky, but I'll be back to Endor blasting EWOKS in no time!
In going through her over this week: brake lines were full of brown jello, the coolant system was crystallized, the carbs gummed, the front forks squishy, and the rear swing arm froze.
First thing was to replace the battery (the old one had leaked out all over the rear coil and swing arm causing severe corrosion and ceasing. Knocked it apart, greased, couple squirts of paint and looking for a new coil.
Bled brakes properly, will do it again because the front still doesn't seem to effect the rear pistons "good" yet, so I think I've yet to work out ALL of the jello from the lines.
Removed and flushed radiator /cooling system, replaced thermostat and part of the housing because it had a corrosion hole In it from old coolant. The rest of the system looked good!
Changed oil and filter (plan on doing at least one flush once I get it going again) and a full change after a few miles and things get moving.
Replaced fork seals and dust covers (oem only as AZ isnt nice to aftermarket rubber) one of the forks looked fine, while the other was basically out of fluid. It must have leaked out of a bad seal (who knows when) and was riding on ONE SIDE! Glad I checked that... that may have caused the one sides spring to wear out a bit (seemed weaker on one side during reassembly) I'll see how it responds and consider new coils in the future.
Finally changed the tires, cleaned the carbs, cleaned the K/N air filter, and crack stop drilled/JB welded the interior on 2 or 3 little cracks in the fairings (and ordered a few bots that were missing to hold it all on).
Should be a pretty sweet ride once I'm through. if you have any other suggestions of things to check, let me know!
(oh, I also plan on going through the valve spacing once the service manual comes in) This looks normal Ship it out!

Wow! How's the water pump looking? Who put what in that cooling system?
it drained perfectly clear. I'm afraid to pull the impeller apart (without having the gaskets on hand) since EVERYTHING else in the system looked good, including the radiator, I'm assuming it was localized to the thermostat during its sit. (Cross your fingers)
