Default Hey everyone, new F3 rider here.

Hey folks, Just wanted to say Hi to everyone, great forum here! I just bought a 1997 CBR600F3 and man is it fun! First time bike owner and I got a pretty good deal from craigslist. Don't know much about bikes but I'm learning from all the informative posts & How-To's. Going to be taking the MSF course offered (free!) to PA riders in the summer. Other than that I am learning to respect the power of this bike and taking it slow. Rode about 40 miles today after work and had a great time. Let me know what you think of my F3!

Here's a Pic...

Bike looks great! I would clean your chain real good and lube it up, though. Looks like it has some surface rust on it. Make sure it's not binding and properly adjusted. Take a good look at your sprockets, too.

So you're from Erie, eh?? That's cool. I was born in Greenville and a lot of my family lives in Erie, Meadville, etc.
My boss down here is from Erie, too. (I live down on the maryland line now....)

Anyway, Welcome to the CBRF, man! We have a huge group of great F3 guys/gals here. Make yourself at home and if you have any questions, post 'em on up in the F3 section.

Hey welcome to the Forum, sweet looking F3, great color . Good advice from
KilgoreTrout there about the chain and sprockets. The MSF is a great way to go for sure.
Enjoy yourself both here and on the bike. Have fun & Ride Safe.

Thanks guys, I will have to clean up that chain. The guy I bought it from changed it right before he stored the bike for the winter so hopefully nothing to serious, just some surface rust. The sprockets are new as of last year. Also forgot to mention it has a Vance & Hines slip-on exhaust and Blue LED kit on it. Thanks for the tips!

Thumbs up

Welcome to a great site. Good looking bike. You should change your fluids (oil, brake, and antifreeze) if you haven't. since Trout told you about the chain. Always do your preventive maintenance and she will treat you right. Ride safe.

Great looking bike! PA must be the home of the F3s, minus Trout of course

Something you might want to look into while waiting for your BRC is getting a book on riding. Keith Code's Twist of the Wrist 2 is highly recommended by many, along with the DVD of the same title. There's a lot about general riding inside it, much of which can save your bike or your life. It'll also help make you aware of the bad habits you should avoid before you already have them. And then have to break them.

The BRC will be a great experience for you. But you said that's this summer. It'd be insane to expect you to wait till then before hopping on. So read up and learn while you're waiting. And make sure you get your gear on!
