Odd to hear a MSF instructor say that. You sure he wasn't bsing you about being an instructor? Cause an instructor should know (and usually preach) it'd take you way longer than a week to learn and master even a 250...

Dealers, you can safely ignore. If they could get you to roll out with a 'busa, they'd be ecstatic... Even if you highsided 20' out the driveway so long as your insurance paid off the loan.

Welcome aboard. I'm not gonna get into the 250 vs 600 starter bike discussion. Opinions vary on how good (or bad) of an idea it is to start on a 600, especially if the rider has the ability to buy a 250.

Still, a 600 will serve you well for quite a while, a challenge to begin with since you
say you are new to the sport, but as you progress and learn the ropes that 600
will do all you need and a whole lot more. Enjoy the Forum , respect the bike and
ride safe.

yeah bro my first bike was a 600 katana. more than enough for me. i think if you find and older f3 or f2 you would be just fine. you can pick them up for around 2k and at that point if you drop it, well you only paid 2 for it. don't be like some people i know who go out and drop 6 on a newer 600 or 750 and then whine when their insurance is high or when they drop it and bust the chit out of it. id actually recomend that for your first couple. like i did.

Thumbs up

Hello and Welcome. I would start with a used one, its not if you drop it, it is when you drop it. Ride safe.
