RE: Hey

hmm.. pro's & con's? well there are hardly any con's about CBR's :D

pros: fuel-injected so no messing with the choke (just more convenient IMO)
600cc... great displacement to start on... again IMO. i actually started on a 50cc YSR, then went to a 750cc Ninja
not so aggressive seating position as compared to the 600rr's... more comfy on longer rides for most people

cons: a bit more expensive than previous models (ie F2, F3, etc).

that's all i got for now! :D

RE: Hey

thank you that is starting to help me, also any suggestions on helmets and gear will be appreciated, i wanna be safe and not too expensive, i wanna pay for quality not the name, ive seen some nice AGV, is that a good brand?

RE: Hey

as long as you get a helmet that's DOT approved you'll be fine. there's a huge variety though... from your inexpensive ones (which might not look as cool, not as well ventilated, a little heavier, etc) to high dollar lids like arai, shoei, suomy, etc. also you might want to try a few on to see which ones fit best on your head. there are lots of threads on here regarding helmets and it basically comes down to how it feels on YOUR head.

as for gear... leathers offer more protection over textile. i myself don't have any leathers yet. i've got one textile jacket and one mesh jacket for the hot weather. both have protection (ie armor built in) and are Joe Rocket. some here will say JR is crap but i'm happy with it... comfy and inexpensive and i've had a few friends go down with JR's on and they held up fine.

don't forget a decent set of gloves and boots while you're out shopping :D
