I just signed up and need help...I am 63 and my last bike was an FZ1 which I really liked...I may be nuts but I have always loved the sport bikes but never rode one...I watched them for years as I lived 35 miles from deals gap and rode there 3 times a week..not like the sport bike guys but like a 63 year old....I am getting ready to buy a 2000 929 with 13000 miles....The speedo does not work but the other gauges do...Please advise what I should look for, is that an expensive fix and is the 929 is good bike...I do not plan to ride it like it is designed but more like a commuter to the store and weekend rides....I know...get a cruiser but I just do not like them and would quit riiding if that was all there was....Please humor me and your experienced advice will be so appreciated....I will or will not buy this 929, dependingon your advice...Thank you.....Joe.....

..... gee, you even beat Shadow ...and he is ancient![Wink](https://cbrforum.com/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Bloody good to see a few of us oldies still ripping up the rubber ..
The 929 is a great looking ride ...I think they have a very special racy look for an older ride..
13000 is low millage ... which is good..
How much are you paying for her if you buy her ..?
I am not sure what the speedo's cost ...I know for a 1000F a full set can run 300 , but thats the dash lights and 2 gauges..
I will have a look around and check for you though ..
anyways mate ..nice to meet another oldtimer like myself and you remember ..do not be shy ..
just post up mate![Wink](https://cbrforum.com/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif)

Welcome Ralph, from the Kingdom of the Zulu !
The 929's a great bike, just a little quicker than our CBR1000F's.(not much)
If the speedo's broken, the mileage could be much higher, but they are strong bikes.......
much depends on the asking price......
If you need advice on what to look for, post up the questions in the 929 or tech sections, and the boys will help you.
Should be able to pick up a speedo on e-Bay. Not too expensive.
I see Classic's found a couple for you already.....
Pull the manual from my siggy for the 929 if you feel the need.
Come and visit down in the Hurricane section.![Big Grin](https://cbrforum.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

Also, fill in your home town in your siggy - makes it easier to locate parts for you closest to home !![Big Grin](https://cbrforum.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
