Hello from Northern Alberta
Hello from Fort McMurray Alberta!
I just recently acquired a 1988 CBR 1000F, got it cheap and not running, however it is complete and I did see a video of it running.
I have been riding dirt bikes all my life, 54 years and still do, have a 2015 KX450F set up for woods riding. I haven’t had a street bike since I bought my 1989 Ninja ZX10 brand new I was too young and crazy and ended up selling it the next year when I went back to college.
I am wanting to have this bike on the road for next summer, so I may have some questions along the way..Lol so far I have rebuilt the carbs, adjusted the valves and checked the cam chain tensioner, a few valves were out a bit but overall looked really good inside. Oh and yes first thing I did was buy a factory service manual off of eBay and I have been a certified Diesel engine mechanic for nearly 30 years but for the last nine and a half have been a maintenance supervisor at a large oil company up here so I really enjoy wrenching in the garage now!
anyway, looking forward to chatting with some of you about these bikes, seems really well built so far! I can’t believe the size of the engine for the displacement.
thanks,
Todd

Well not much to look at yet, hoping I’ll have it running shortly into the new year then if everything runs good I’ll take care of cosmetics, paint fairings etc.
