Hello CBR600’s
 

John Sundquist here from Swan Lake, next to Pengilly, & born and in Hibbing, MN.
Spent 3 yrs in the Army as an airborne medic in the Alfa 75th Ranger Company at Fort Hood, TX. Great time with incredibly devoted men. We, six of us, had small scramblers, I had a TS185 cc Suzuki that had what it took for me to explore the Lost Star terrain.
I wanted a 650 cc scrambler but their starting price was $2;500 for a high mileage old bike. I found a 93 CBR 600 for $900 with 29 k on the speedo owned by a Honda motorcycle mechanic. It averaged 1.2 k a year so I figure it sat unused for long enough
to varnish out. The carbs were rebuilt and the GooF idles splendidly. Corners scare me but been told that is a beneficial state of mind. Love the bike with passion. I have a heavy duty carrier that fits into the trailer hitch to allow the CBR to be positioned cross wise on the back of a 5,300 lb 03 Dodge Ram transport van. Am in Santa Barbara, CA visiting family and living in the van. Came from KC, KS and am semi retired so I’m work because I enjoy the self employed challenge & temperament.
I will be visiting a brother in San Diego, nephew in San Francisco & possibly a past college lady friend in Olympia, Washington. Melrose Moto’s manager; Todd, is keeping
an eye on my CBR600F2.

Welcome to the forum John.
Enjoy your semi-retirement, it certainly sounds like you plan to.
Just keep relaxed and ease into the cornering with your F2, if you cannot see where the road is going you should reduce your speed and always look where you are planning on going not what is in front of you and the bike will do the rest.

Corners can be intimidating. Pick your exit spot before you enter the curve and drive to that.

Welcome brother, new here myself but rip it at the track. The fam here has basically covered it and they’re right, after initial braking, trail brake into the corner until you feel your travelling at a speed you can control, make sure your looking through the corner and when you see the corner exit roll on the throttle again 🤙🏽
