G'day from a new Aussie member
G'day all,
I am the proud owner of a 93 CBR1000F that I purchased about a month ago for AU$1800! This is the first road bike I have owned since my younger days when I had a RZ500(wicked bike for it's time) The old RZ500 was a v4 2 stroke that was just great for the twisty roads found here in Tasmania, only problem is the weather, it rains a lot. I settled on the CBR as I have a bung shoulder from a work place accident 10 years ago that stopped me working, riding and just about everyting else. I saw the bike for sale on the side of the road for about 2 months with a AU$5000 price to start with but the price just kept falling until I could no longer resist. I have since found it uses quite a bit of oil and blows a bit of smoke (A lot like me) so my wife and I have named it puffin' billie! It idles smooth, with no rattles in the engine but I was getting pins and needles in my throttle hand(fixed with foam grip covers) and I am going to try some Dewalt anti vibe gloves, these are on order from the US.
I don't usually play with computors much this is only the second forum I have joined. I thought I would after reading a few of CBRClassics posts, he sounds like a good typical aussie.
Anyway hello...my nickname is Jarvid as I was told I always talked of things about my father eg; me and dad did this and that and if you follow cricket at all you may remember an old guy called Jarvid Meindad that played for India I think.
Cheers...

Well giday to you Jarvid .... welcome aboard the CBRF mate ....
Strewth , yet another Aussie with a 1000F !! ...woohooo tink we are taking over the bloody world !! LOLOL
Hey I like your style ... $5000 for a 93 would have been a fair price , but to have the guts to wait till it hit $1800 ...wow that's nuts ..lol and great buying skill
(just a thought mate )
If she is blowing a touch of smoke , you might want to try an oil change and whack some engine cleaner in it to try to see if she is just gummed up ....
Allot of these old girls have been sitting with very little use and can get a bit weird apon start up after a long stint off the road ...
anyways ... post up on the hurricane boards if you want more of the other reprobates to throw some ideas at you ....
have fun here and take care of that shoulder mate ....these old girls pull like trains as you prolly know all to well by now ...

I waited until the guy dropped the price to $2k then offered him $1500 because of the smoke then we settled on $1800. She has got 62000km on the clock, I got a receipt with the bike for $1300 worth of work done at the local honda dealer where it had new tyres, brakes, chain, sprockets, carbs synced, service and compression tested OK all about 6 mnths ago but the bike has only done a few hundred klms since the because the owner had lost his licence. He told me it didn't smoke before he stopped using it so I might try the engine flush and see how it goes, I guy can get lucky sometimes can't he?

O,ow!!! Michelle's onto you jarvid... lol
Hope you are both partnered up or married already? ......lolol
yu know what happens if 2 single 1000F owners of the opposite sex get together ..... they wind up creating .....a little bunch of screaming CBR250's
please read the above... j/k
I think if the comps are ok , that maybe she may respond to a bit of an engine washout ....at only 60,000klms she ain't , or should not be dead or too warn .... yu just might be lucky ..
Some of the engine flushes around do claim to un - gum rings and pistons ... certainly worth a try mate ....

Welcome aboard!
ANother Aussie with a 1000F...must be something in the water.......
Anywho, I'm willing to bet the smoke from exhaust is just bad gas that has been in there for 6+mos.
Run thru a fresh tank of petro and see what happens....and dont forget to check the oil level!!
Post some pics when U can and ride safe

I am now on my 3rd tank of premium unleaded and the bike has now used about 400ml of oil to keep at the full mark on the dipstick, I am now using Motul 3000 20w50 4T oil to try to slow oil consumption. I also live in a cold place so it is a bit hard to get into top gear sometimes with the heavy oil.
Took a couple of pics out the side of my house for yas
