Holy ****!!! They never mentioned I need to bring someone to drive my vehicle as well. ..........I think I rather pay the occasional $300 than jump through their hoops like a retarted circuis animal. I loveTexas but the DMVcan go *** themselves.I apprectiate the info fellas
its funny i found the answers you were looking for in under a minute and i live in CA... why wouldnt you rather "do a lil dance" now and become legitinstead of risking it later down the road . is it really that hard tohave one of your friends or family members help you out so you can get your licence ?

Hey... if they're not brave enough to jump on the back of the bike and go for a ride, then do it in a open lot like Ohio does. We take a mini version of the MSF course. You know, screw the riding exaime and make the MSF affordable and mandatory to all.

I feel for ya. I say *** the VADMV for another reason and I need to rant. They made me wastemore than fourhours overtwo days just to register my bike. I had boughtmy 1krr out of state and the stealership owner said,"You don't havetodo anything, we'll do all the paperwork for you and your DMV will mail you your plates, we do this all the time for out-of-state customers."Almost three weeks later and I still haven't seen my registration and plate, so I call the DMV and afterI give all my informationto some ditz who sits on her fat *** in the AC all day says she can't find any informationaboutme in the system. Hmmm, Iown three other cars and they are all registered in VA. So I called the stealer and speak with the owner and she sayscall back next Mondaybecause her titling person is on vacation. WTF, my temp tag (which isbigger than my cars' plates) expireson Tuesday. So I call backFriday andI'mtoldsent the paperwork was sent to VA DMV and was signed for less than a week after I picked up my bike.

The day my temp tag expired Iwent to thelocal DMV office and of course its the end of the day, I want to get my license endorsed at the same time. I go to the window and explain the story to the woman andthat I need to register my bike, here's the temporary registration. By this timeeveryone else is gone, the lady says she needs to know which office the paperwork wassent and I didn't know, theshop was closedand I couldn't find out. Since I was technically "helped" and had myendorsed license in hand, I was pretty much kicked out by the armed guard (guns don't scare me but the idiots the CommunistWealth of VA gives them to do).Turns out thestealer had sent theregistration toArlington (four hoursaway)and I was supposed to go to that specific office and pick up the plates andVA DMVdoesn't mail platesany more, so they were getting the stuff overnighted to me and everything would be straight in about two days. I pay my taxes and said screw that, I go back to the same office the next day over an hour before closing and still don't get called till twenty minutes after closing, I get called by the same woman from the day before. Giving her no more information than I had the day before I got my bike registered. Thanks for nothing.

Make sure to get some old cop. They seem to be the most laid back ones. I had a lady the first time and was a complete bitch. Got an old cop the next day and we just went around the block and that was it. I was legalized now. I went 6 months without a license.

Same thing happened to my dad the first time he went to take the road course. It was hot out and the bitchy tester went exactly by the book and he failed by two points. MSF was much easier, although the people who run the chapter over here are real ******.

So today, Im trying to do the right things needed to be legal....Ive had my bike for 2 weeks now and heard from a friend that in Texas you dont need a motorcycle license, my regular drivers license is all I needed. Well, decided to verify online and ofcourse that was bad information. I go to the DMV this morning......I need to take my truck and bike over there so the woman can "road test" me while following me in my truck.....WTF!!!!!! 1st of all, I cant even LEGALLY ride my bike to the DMV and how the **** am I supposed to get both truck and bikeover there??? Anyone have a magic transporter I can borrow??? I promise i'll have it back by the end of the week. Stupid ****'n laws.....[:@]
You know your friend is right, you don't need a license to ride in Texas, if you see the lights just twist your wrist...
And you know what, I'm from Texas & 50 over the limit is cool on freeways in Texas if you're on a bike [sm=badidea.gif]

Seriously, don't believe what you've been told, use your own reasoning & sound judgement before you believe anyone. You are accountable for your actions when it comes to law.

As far as you getting your license, take the MSF & once you pass you'll simply need to give the written test. Here's a couple of links(for around Dallas)

I got my license in Texas in 1971 with my Mom driving the trooper around; we brought my CB100 on a trailer. Texas has been doing the motorcycle license this way for a long time.

Take the MSF course, then you only need the written test.

What up fellas??? Immilitary and they provide the MSC on base because its required to rideon base......but guess what, I cant ride my bike on base because I dont have a Texas motorcycle license......one brick wall after another. So no matter what I decide to do, I need to ride my bike (illegally) to someone that can sign off on my bull**** papaerwork saying that I can safley ride my bike. I agree with making sure thatriders can safelymanuver the city streets and highways but its beyond a reasonable expectation to bring everything needed (bike, vehicle, driver)to get the license. Im military, so no family here and my friends have jobs that are more important than me getting my "M" class on my license. God bless Texas

Wah wah...life sucks...wah wah.

ANYWAY....You have a truck...can you load the bike onto the truck? Nothing stopping you from doing that right? So then you can have someone who doesn't ride, go with you. As for the laws that are made by stuffy white suit individuals... it's usually because of a group of people complaining to those white suit individuals to make such a law. Since the number of people doing the amount of complaining seem to outweigh the people against the complainers...then they see that it MUST be needed. If you don't like the law. Do what you can to get it changed instead of crying about how life is so unfair. Sorry for the overall negative attack on this, but the attitude pisses me off and it's just my personal feelings.

Edit:
Yeah, that came out way more harsh then I intended... Truthfully....how do you elect what laws you are going to follow and not follow? Just the ones that are convienent for you?
