First time rider from Orange County, CA
Hi everyone, my names Matt and i kust bought my first bike a 1997 CBR 600 F3 on Aug 1st. So far I've been loving everything about the bike although its my first so I have nothing to really compare it to. I've been lurking the forums for a while, and out of all of them I looked over this one seems to have the most usefull information IMO.
A little back ground on me. I'm 20 living in Lake Forest commuting to Falbrook 5 days a week, a 110 mile trip per day all of which have been on the bike lately. I work in a small shop mostly on drag cars and muscle cars.
The plans on the bike are to just get in perfect operating order at first and take care of all the half a$$ed work the previous owner did. Then to update with newer features such as F4i gauge cluster and clear alternatives integrated tail light both of which I have just purchased. also plan to change the beat up two brothers slip on and cheap missaligned HK fairings, add HID projectors and flushmount turn signals, and jet kit.
Have a couple unrelated questions, is there a way to tell if my bike is equipped with California smog equitment on the VIN tag? and if anybody nows where I can get proper fitting fairings for a decent price let me know.
Thanks in advance
Matt

Welcome to the site, Matt!
+1 on a nice area.
I can't really help with the VIN question, but usually it will tell you if it's a Cali model either on the airbox or the frame near the airbox. Should be a sticker.
Plus, all the crazy vacuum lines, pair system, and evap valve will usually give it away.
