Smile Finally a CBR and the wife said yes.

Hey everyone. Been looking at the forum for a few weeks and decided to finally become a member. I finally bought a 2006 CBR600F4i about a month ago and i got it with 954 miles on it off Craigslist. I changed out all fluids and tires and I now have 1600 miles on it since i ride almost 120 miles round trip to work 2-3 days a week weather permitting. I've owned a 93 Ninja EX500 (first bike), a 99 Yamaha R6 (sold in 2006, regretting everyday.) Then my wife agreed to let me buy the CBR and I couldn't be happier. (She even let me buy all my gear. boots, pants, gloves, jacket, and didn't bat an eye when i walked in with a new Shoei helmet!) I did have to buy her a cat though....lol.

Welcome to the CBR Forum Tele1650,

Now you have to get your Wife to ride too - then you'll never look back

Cheers, SB

Welcome to the forum.

Nice find on the wife.....I mean, bike. That's low low miles for an 06.

Sorry to hear that you need to live with a cat. Sacrifices you must make.... j/k

That is great Tele1650! Welcome! Sounds like your wife and my girlfriend are cut from the same cloth! I know our cats are worth more to her than any diamonds or gold! And, thankfully she is also supportive of my riding, but like sebastianbear pointed out, I'd prefer her support as she rode next to me, THAT would be awesome!

Couple questions about your 120mi round trip commute... Is it all highway? Are you sore at all? How does the bike handle it? Or any extra info and thoughts... That is about the same distance as my commute and I really want to try it on my bike... But it's all highway and I'm honestly not sure how enjoyable that would really be. I usually like scenery and "the road less travelled" kind of riding... I'd just appreciate another point of view Thanks!

You should have walked in with TWO new helmets - one for her.

Welcome aboard.

Thanks everyone! I did have to buy her a new purse besides the cat since I bought that new Shoei helmet and asked how much it was. My response "You can't put a price on safety." But the purse made it all better, you're right everyone she is a great wife. This is my first Honda bike. I did have an old four wheeler. I grew up on dirt bikes yz250, yz426, and the 4-wheeler. I bought my 93 ninja 500 in 2004 and had it two years, I did lay it down once at about 5mph into a gas station parking lot. In 2006 I bought a buddy's immaculate 99 R6 and put almost 14k miles on it, never got in trouble with it. Those two were back in my young days (early 20's) lol. I'm now 29, more mature, married, and with a little girl. Which makes you a lot more responsible and safety conscious. I'll try to upload pics once I figure out how!

I got a helmet with the bike, but I've never been one for used helmets so I'm not going to let the wife where it. Maybe the cat..jk jk. I'll have to take her gear shopping soon

That's hilarious about your g/f and my wife lol. About the commute. I would say about 80-90% is highway depending on which way I go. I have 4 routes. The fastest I don't take bc it's 3-4 lanes and ridiculous traffic. The other ways 2 are 90% highway and the last and fav option and longest option lol is 80% highway, 10% country roads. I rode 3 times this week and by Wed night I was beat. I think once I get use to it it'll be better. The bike is awesome for the commute unless you get a strong headwind like I did Wed afternoon, I guess the bike did fine it was just unnerving at times with gusts of wind and I noticed it burned a little more fuel. I never cramped arm or leg wise but I noticed my right leg a little sore from vibration and off course right hand from being on the throttle for almost 45 mins straight, last 15 mins are red lights. Im thinking my hands are hurting bc i had my gloves to tight the first two times, i loosened them up a little and they didnt hurt as bad after that. I'm definitely a scenic rider also but the commute is fun to for me also. I hope this helps!
