Fair Price?

I am a new member and have a simple question. Someone in my area has a 1998 cbr 600 for sale. It has a salvage title and he is asking $3300 for it. He says it runs great and is infair condition with a few scratches and has been laid down before. Iam interested in the bike, but not sure if that is a fair price for it? I don't want to get ripped off nor do I want to rip him off. What would bea fair price?
Also, this would be my first bike.
By the way, this is a re-post

RE: Fair Price?

You can get an approx. value at nadaguides.com
Another way to approx. the value is go to kbb.com and get the trade-in value as well as retail value and take an average of the two and that should be close enough to a fair private party value.
Hope that helps. Also, be patient...don't just jump on the first deal you see...check out the bike really well.
Good Luck!

Hello & Welcome!!:D

Try checking www.craigslist.com for some bikes as well. Salvage titles can be problematic.

Alwaysbe weary ofsomething with a salvaged title...I think $3300 is too much for that bike...especiallya '98 with some cosmetic damage. Welcome to the site, and good luck.
