hi everyone-
Im not sure who camps out here and reads these introductions, but I wanted to say hello. I just picked up a 1992 600F2 and have been doing some reading on the site for about a week. I finally signed up today. I've been riding since 1996 and had many bikes, mostly older ones but I rode the heck out of a Yamaha FZR600 and have ridden an F3 on several occasions. Currently I ride a 1980 Honda CX500. Have also had some older BMWs and other older Hondas.
A bit about the bike: It has around 34K miles on it, and seems to be in decent shape mechanically -- no leaks, nice looking fluids, K&N air filter, aftermarket CCT. It had not run since 2004, just been sitting in a guy's garage. It needs tires, battery, carb clean, fork seals. Since it came without the plastics (had the seat, tank, front fender) I am going to turn it into come kind of streetfighter/modern-day-cafe looking thing. It was probably a stunt bike looking at the tires and the small dings on the sliders and one dent on the tank. The tank was not hammered in though thankfully.
It started up and ran on starting fluid and then I could get it to rev on fresh gas but not idle. Carbs need some work. It sounded nice, it has a Two Brothers slip-on.
My most recent project was a 1976 Honda CB550F which I turned into a replica-racer/cafe looking thing. I like the minimalist style, so I will take this F2 in the same direction. First I will take it down to the frame and chop off some tabs and mounts, paint the frame and swingarm, and then go from there. I hear the F2s are great bikes.
I'm sure I will be posting some Qs and comments here and there on the forums, it looks like a great resource.
Below are some photos of the CB550F before and after, my CX500, and of course the F2.
see y'all later,
-Ron

howdy 813. any good bike nights over in tampa? we have the quaker steak & lube wed night over this side of the bridges. pretty good mix of sport bikes and harley folks, plus a few classics, trikes, and rat bikes too. ever been? they get hundreds of bikes every week so always interesting to check it out.
thanks for the welcomes. keep 'em fast and on two wheels! well, sometimes one is fun too...

anyways, i live very close to "the lube" haha. i dont go out much on bike nights but yes there is always a nice turnout there. theres another place down the road a bit called grass flats that a couple of my harley buddys goto. not so many sportbikes there but they are nice none the less.
