If you have some experience, I would go with the CBR. the 600rr is going to be a lot quicker, and be more responsive than the 500. But I am probably biased on the Honda because I have a 600rr, and I love it. I haven't tried a Kawi myself, but it looks like you did your homework, and that should help in your decision.[8D]

what your missing here is the fact that the CBR is a four cylinder and the EX500 is an inline twin... the CBR is MUCH FASTER than a EX500 and will get you in trouble much quicker than the EX..and the price difference is BIG!!
I have had a EX500 or two and they are alot of fun, very forgiving, and inexpensive..I would reccomend one in a heartbeat to a BRAND NEW rider...
You can buy a set of tires for the EX for the price of the REAR tire on the 600RR
The 600RR is by far more advanced, but requires a more advanced rider to use it to it potential.

Very well said Sirlimpzalot...
You have to learn to walk before you can run. It takes quite a bit to over ride a Ex500. It is quite a confidence building bike! If you start too big too fast, you could easily get yourself into a compromising position that the CBR600 won't be very forgiving for, yet the Ex500 would. What is the rush??? If this is your first ride, go with the Ex there will always be a newer, bigger, better model on the market. By the time your proficient and confident with the Ex, u can then go buy the NEWEST CBR and brag to your friends, and also be a competent rider as well.
I have seen so many people with really nice bikes, going down the street at 20mph in first gear cuz they don't know what they are doing or the bike scared them. What a waste!
Something else to chew on, the CBR is shorter (wheelbase), lighter with a LOT more HP. That means she can pull ******* much faster, turn much sharper, and Indo a lot faster. Yes, most people want to be able to do these things, but that CBR will do them at a touch of the throttle, for a newbie that can be disaster! Its cool to watch from someone with experience, but its sad to watch a newbie flip over because of a lack of experience. So think hard about your decision. The Ex has been a tried and true great beginners sportbike. I just talked a buddy of mine here at work into getting one, and he loves it. Its not the speed that you ride at, its the ride in general that is enjoyable. Well.. Speed will come later.. [:-]

You guys are right, and thats what is puzziling me, I am in no position to argue with what you are saying.
Its jsut that in my area, All I see are used CBR's, I havent seen a used EX 500. I dont know if they are not listed or do I just have to go to every dealer and find out?!!
But to tell you the truth, I would rather get a EX 500 than a CBR as a first bike, but I only have 2 years of ridding left. I am going as far as knowing every single poth hole in the road before I start riding, I memorized all the lanes going from school to home and vise versa, so every single pthhole every curve, every inch of the streeT is in my mind. And I suppose its better to ride an EX 500 at the start, but I CANT FIND ONE! (btw i am in Virgina Beach, VA) if anybody knows dealers or people that sell there. Ill buy it as soon as this semster is over (may 5th) So I i fall, i wont mess up my GPA this semster at college.
Thanks everybody!! I know this is a newbie question that has been asked a million times....but you know, you jsut have to ask again [sm=youreright.gif]
