Buying a f3 from Oklahoma what's up?
Hi, I'm buying my first bike pretty soon, it's a 97 cbr 600 f3. The guy I'm buying it off of was originally selling it for 2300 and I'm going to buy it for 1500 it runs really good he said that he bought it wrecked and fixed the bent forks put new tires battery changed the oil and it has 18000 miles on it. Do you think that I got a good deal? I won't be able to ride it till I do a mortorcycle safety course because I'm in the military but I'm really exited, I've wanted a motorcycle for years now and decided to finally buy one. BTW hello everyone!

Sounds good, if it's what he says it is. Always look em over hard and be suspicious
if the bike's been pre-warmed when you go check it out. That's a sign of idle and
warm-up/starting issues being hidden from you. If he fixed bent forks, that means he
replaced them. Double check them for kinks/wrinkles, to assure he's giving you the
straight skinny. Look over the tripples for cracks, too. If you do a search in the general
tech and the F3 specific, there are a couple of great pre-buy tips on inspection.
What part of okkie-ville are you in? I'm based in Tulsa, myself. Welcome to a really
hip gathering. Glad you could join us, Ern

Welcome to the forum CBRDUKE!
TAYQ: $1500 is a decent deal *if* the bike is in good mechanical & operational condition. If you don't really know how to do a proper pre-purchase inspection, have the seller meet you at a factory Honda shop to do a pre-purchase inspection. They typically run about $85 but the certified mechanic will do a thorough inspection & let you know what the bike's needs are & if everything is ok.
Most of us here recommend the MSF Course. Motorcycle Safety Foundation It will pay dividends for learning proficiency & saftey, & building on that to become a responsible rider.
Hope all goes well w/ your purchase.
Good to have you w/ us.

I live around Ft Sill, but I'm originally from Ponca city and my mom and uncle live in Tulsa. The military has a free course for motorcycle safety for active duty, and Im going to take that course. There is a initial basic course you are required to take then a advanced course after you've been riding for a little bit, then there is a sport rider course too. I'll definitly check to see if the bike has been warmed up next time I see it and look at the fork seals to see if there is any leakage. Thanks for the info though I forgot the fact that it could of already been warmed up when he showed me that it started fine.
