Talking Another one in San Diego...

I've been lurking for a bit so I thought I'd finally say hello. I live in the San Diego area, but originally from AZ so I travel between the two states a lot.

Brand new to the scene. All signed up for the basic rider's course (3 more weeks still to go. Torture!). In the meantime just watching videos, reading up, bothering my coworkers by talking about it non-stop, and doing an ungodly amount of pilates to get that core strength up.

Thanks to all of you for contributing so much information here. I feel like I'm going into this much more prepared than I would have otherwise.

Hi Ray. Welcome to CBRF. I was learning with books etc before I got on the bike. I still read books and watch videos, and try to add skills. The books I read were Proficient Motorcycling: The Ultimate Guide to Riding Well, Total Control, Twist of Wrist (book & video) Ride Like A Pro (video). If you want, I have twist of Wrist 1&2 on my mobileme account for download. I was talking about riding bike and about my bike, and I still do.

Welcome aboard Ray! Referring to your name a bit...sounds like you're getting squared away in prep for getting your bike. Excellent. Definitely recommend the MSF Courses. You'll enjoy it.

One word of advice, don't head to Palomar Mountain first thing. ;-) Give it some time, it'll be there.

Haha.. don't crush my dreams. I was planning on doing some knee dragging up Palomar the next day.

But since it does sound like you're in the area, any suggestions on some easy rides without a ton of traffic?
