First take an MSF course. They will teach you all of the basics on their bike, so if you drop it, your not hurting your bike. To tell if it's been dropped, look for obvious scratches on the fairing, mirrors, bar ends, etc. It's not hard to learn, but it's nothing like riding a bicycle.

Also remember a couple of things.

-All motorcycles go fast enough.
-There is always someone faster than you (unless you are a 7x world GP champ).
-Respect the bike or it WILL bend you over and spank you when you least expect it.

Follow some basic rules and you'll be a life long bike rider.

-Del

Welcome to the boards. Everyone above me is right. First before you do anything, take a local MSF class. Second save up about $700 to $1000 for gear. A helmet, gloves, jacket, boots, ect. Third pick up a copy of proficient motorcycling and read that. Then find yourself a good used bike. Always respect the bike and always wear your gear. The most important thing, is to have fun. Welcome to the addiction.

Welcome to the site. As stated before, take the MSF, it is the most important investment you can make in your new hobby. Get some good gear and don't try to be Miguel Duhamel, because he is god and you are not!!
