Hi gang. I've been lurking in the shadows for a few weeks, able to read messages but unable to post because of registration problems.

I recently bought a new candy apple red/silver 08 CBR1000RR. The fantastic clearance prices on these was too tempting to pass up. My wife went along with it as long as I agreed to consider getting a Gold Wing in 3 years. This was my first motorcycle purchase since my old Yamaha FJ1100 in 1984. I've rented and ridden since then but I do plan on taking it easy for a while and get to know this rocket gradually.

It has been sitting in my garage ever since the transport company dropped it off two weeks ago. I haven't even test ridden it yet. It still has 4 miles on the odo that the dealer put there. The weather, work and holiday things going on right now have kept me from anything more than just sitting on it.

I've added a few mods to it already (exhaust, seat cowl, frame sliders) and I have some more stuff coming. I figure if I cannot ride it I can at least enjoy tinkering with it in the garage.

Although I plan to enjoy my new toy a lot my real passion is long distance endurance bicycling. If there are any cyclists on here drop me a PM if you want to chat.

Wait until I get my EvoTech fender eliminator installed next week and I'll post some.

If you want to get one you can still pick up some hot deals on clearance 08's for around $7k. I noticed that dealers have already started to raise their prices on these as the availability goes down.

Don't forget about Honda's 0.99% financing for 36 months. That comes out to around $200/mo with no money down.

Still waiting for my fender eliminator so I can install it and post some pics.

Dang that makes it sound even nicer, but then I would have to get full coverage. And with my driving record it would be in the $400+/month area.

Wow, did you check with State Farm? I checked with Geico ($1,600/yr), Progressive (around $1,500/yr) and a few others. Many bike owners seemed to like State Farm's rate, so I called them. I have a spotless driving record, so that probably helps me somewhat, but I'm only paying $470/yr full coverage with a $1,000 ded.

Looks like my fender eliminator kit didn't get here today either.
