Default Another CBR Noobie

Hi all: I've just bought an '89 CBR1000F and, except for some, er, technical issues, I'm enjoying it a lot. I also have an '81 BMW R100RS: the plan is to ride the CBRF while I "restore" the Beemer. Well, that's the plan anyway...

My bike history is not extravagant, although I have been riding since - well, a long time anyway: Suzuki A70, Yamaha RT1, Yamaha RT360, Beemer, CBRF. OK, OK, stop laughing.

I'll hunt out a picture of the old girl - the Honda that is - and post it. Now it's off to the tekkie pages to sort out those, er, technical issues

Well, I'm actually in sunny Sydney just up the road from you :-)

I've just been looking at your album with the pictures of your 1000F. Wow, the bike is in fantastic looking condition: I am very envious. Proper mirrors (mine are aftermarket and are cr*p) and a gear rack: nice. Where can I get one? I have fairing damage (as always) and the fairing frame is bent so the pieces don't fit on properly, timing chain noise, not happy idling when it's hot, alternator not charging properly etc. But it's still a great bike to ride and eats up the long-distance miles.

Thanks for the info. on Gearsack in VIC. Whenever I mention '89 CBRF in the local bike shops their eyes glaze over. I seldom have any trouble getting parts for my '81 Beemer. That's Japanese bikes for ya...

OK, so just to wrap this thread up, I have posted a picture of the old girl. You'll see that the mirrors aren't OEM (Honda want $200 each for replacements ha ha ha), the widnscreen isn't Honda either and a previous owner put on a 4 into 1 pipe, which sounds nice but obviously isn't original. There's a fair amount of surface corrosion on the metal and some fairing damage whcih you can't really see in this picture.

BTW: how do I add my location to my "profile'?
