Advice for a new rider
Hey Everyone
Just wanted to introduce myself and see if I could get some feedback from you about a couple of things.
I am looking to buy my first bike and I have decided it should be a CBR600. I know there are a couple of variations of this model so I am hoping someone could briefly outline the differences between the CBR600RR, CBR600 F4 and F4i models.
I would also like to know what is generally considered "high mileage" when it comes to motorcycles and more specifically the CBR's. I have found a myriad of ads out there for bikes with anywhere from 15,000kms to 50,000kms. (9,300-31,000 miles).
Ultimately I'm looking for a bike that is stock (except maybe for the windshield and exhaust) and has low kms for pleasure riding. I'm not into racing, stunting etc. So any feedback on how that would relate to which CBR model I might like would be appreciated.
Thanks a bunch! looking forward to hearing from you.

As far as differences I cant help you there. Look the bike over and ask about service records, one owner or more than one, older or younger person can also say a lot about the bike. Look for rubber up in the finder wales in the back for burn outs. Take some one with you that knows something about bikes also to help look for things. Good luck with your search. Welcome to the forums.

the differences between the F bikes and the rr are pretty substantial
the rr is more towards a track orientation than the F bikes are...the clip ons (handle bars) are mounted lower (under the triple clamp), the rr is more powerful an has a racier look amongst some other things
it's a more subtle difference between the F4 and F4i
basically it's the same frame but the F4 is carbed where the F4i is injected, and changes in bodywork as well
The F4 and 04-06 F4is have a single piece seat, while the 600rr and 01-03 F4is have 2 piece seats that are generally regarded as more asthetically pleasing but less comfortable than the single
i'd recommend sitting on them before you make a choice, but from what you stated it seems like you'd be happier with an F bike because they're regarded as more comfy for longer pleasure rides and can be found in good condition for less money than the 600rr
in repect to mileage, the bikes reliability is more dependent on service intervals and how the owner treated it...jared (thirdgenxli) has an F4i with over 190,000 miles on it
