Default 2012-13 Honda Hornet CB 600 F ABS de cat full exhaust & UK driving licence query

I have purchased a hornet 600f for £4000 which had 1 previous owner with 18000 miles of service history. I wish to get a full de cat system, happy to buy an used one too. Kindly post links from the UK if you find.

I'm using my foreign driving licence in the UK. As per rule I can use it for 12 months after 1st entry. But before 12 months I had exited the country and I believe it makes the driving licence extend for another 12 months. I'm on Tier 2 dependant visa. I know this rule has grey area and is not mentioned clearly. Does anyone know more about this as I need to get insurance for the bike in coming weeks.

Thank you

Hi Legend,
For the exhaust I would go for a Delevik, here is an example
https://delkevic.co.uk/honda-cb600f-...-silencer.html
You can get various end cans including road legal ones.
As for the Visa, I would work on the assumption that because you had left the country the clock starts again upon re-entry and if challenged state that as your assumption as there is no other advice available to the contrary.
Let us have a picture of your Hornet, there are not many Hornet owners around, esp as they did not sell them in the US.
Cheers
Al

Thanks for the reply. Actually I'm awaiting the delivery from the dealer. The previous owner was a 70 year old man who decided to stop biking. Dealer is selling both his bikes in mint condition.

I'm trying buying all safety gears as well. Bit tight on budget as everything needs to be sorted. Hope to get a full decat exhaust system in used condition of possible. No luck in EBay.

What's your opinion about bell helmets? Brands like agv, arai are beyond budget reach when I wish to buy something with carbon fibre or composite material.

Ebay for charger something similar to this, there are loads available for under £10,
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Motorcycl...AAAOSwLIpfMmlN
As for the Phone mount, the Ram product are very good but pricey.
If you want to go slightly more budget friendly, I bought one of these to tray and have been pleasantly surprised, I have used it a couple of times now and it is pretty good.
I do also have a ram stem mounted set-up but not the X-Grip and have recently changed the clip-ons to bars so needed something quickly.
Amazon Amazon

As for the exhausts you will probably struggle to get a full system for the hornet as there were not that many around.
The Delkevic has a longer warranty that Black Widow and is UK made (BW made in China)
You could just go for an end can and link pipe, but i'm not sure on the hornet how the cat fits so I would give Delkevic a call to see what they can do, yo will save yourself c.£200 not buying the down pipes going that route if its possible.

You mean remove original silencer and decat and fit end can with link pipe? So some welding required. Isn't

Yes indeed.
I have just had a look at the exhaust picture..
https://www.lingshondaparts.com/part...5/block/53420/
You might get away with cutting the cat off just before or after the O2 sensor in line with the centre mounting bolt, then join a link pipe there either by clamping or welding, could be fun to try if you are mechanically minded.

Bell helmets are not bad, The Bell M1 is reasonably priced at c.£170 and gets a 5* Sharp rating which is excellent!

Need to understand cutting exhaust. I would need a welder to do that. Need to know exactly where to cut the catalytic converter. Buying full exhaust is pricey. In this way I can use the stock headers and pipes and got to buy only end can with link pipe.

Thank you for the mobile holder. That's lot cheaper than ram Mount. Ordered it with a chain lube to make it free delivery as Amazon wanted £5 for its delivery.

I found an offer which I couldn't resist. Saw some reviews and booked bell race star flex at £250 and race star sector at £250. Helmet City website had these 2 on offer and I thought why to go for agv or arai composite at that price when bell carbon fibre helmet is available for same price. Guess the original price of bell race star is still above £600.

Really good price on those helmets.
I was pleasantly surprised with the phone mount, really good value and works a treat.
It does look like the exhaust is Stainless Steel so would be tricky to saw and may well be a welder / cutter for that
