track upgrades for CBR600F6
Hello People with more knowledge than me,
Relative novice/mechanical liability here (UK) asking for some advice.
Have a CBR600F6, mainly bought it so I could learn some track skills and have something fun on the road.
It does the job but wanted to trick it up a bit for better track performance.
Main focus is on brakes, I feel as if boats stop quicker.
I've got braided lines on but need advice on pads and rotors, also is it possible to swap out nissin calipers for something else, anyone recommend upgrade?
also does anyone know if the race seat fairing designed for the sport model is easy to fit to the banana shaped version mine has?
also advice on gearing. I'm not good enough to get anywhere near topend on the tracks I've been to, so what is the best advice on gearing set up that might help on acceleration but isn't going to ruin my engine by the end of the summer.
any other hints and tips appreciated. this is all budget driven though, so cheaper the better,
already changed rearsets and tyres.
Many thanks,
J

Hi J, you could upgrade with Brembo front brakes but very dear, you could swap the banana seat for the single seat ,but I think you would need the different sub frame, but here you can look at the difference that new sprockets and chain would give you, but what you get on acceleration you lose on top end

Hi, Many Thanks for the reply,
Surprising what a little reading around on here does to improve knowledge!
Found a photogallery on here on how to change sub frame to allow for the single seat. A little too involved for my capabilities at present... Probably should have kept hold of that semi stepped seat it came with......although fella that sold me the bike told me he needed it because he was a short **** not because he liked riding fast...........live and learn......
just did some research with the brembo lead you gave on brakes and there is a thread that points to the 954 calipers being an improvement and fairly cheap. Any knowledge on that?? (they look suspiciously like a gold version of the ones I already have.....)
wrt to brembos is that upgrade for the brake and mc or is there brembo calipers that can be swopped in for stocks?
Thanks for the link to the gearing commander, spot on!
Morecambe? I'm only down the road in Formby, small world! give John my regards!
cheers,
J
