2006. Engine number says CBR600-RACE.

2006. Engine number says CBR600-RACE.

I’m told this is the model number and not the engine number.
Anyone heard of a RACE model engine?
Think it could be from the Honda Racing Team or just an upgrade from the base engine for example?

Can’t be the only CBR engine with this surely?

Surprisingly nobody else from other places has seen it before either. For such a popular model bike you’d think there’d be a few of them 🤷🏻‍♂️

Again, the only other it says RACE on the block near the injectors. No other engine number anywhere. I believe it’s a 2006 or 2008 model engine. Where else would you expect an engine number to be?
