I just bought a used bike with 14k miles on it. Is there anything i should prepare myself for or have looked at. New to the cbr and have been out of the riding seen for about 10 years.

Hi and welcome.

Check the DOT code on the tires. Even if there is lots of tread left I'd replace them if they are more than 3-4 years old. Old rubber gets harder as it ages.

Change the oil and other fluids unless you know the previous owner did this not too long ago. Especially the engine oil.

Couldn't hurt to take an MSF class again as a nice refresher for your riding skills!

Welcome and lets see some pics of the bike.

Careful inspection/adjustment of the chain and sprockets never hurts either. Previous owners are such a neglectful lot!

And, yeah the MSF class is a good idea (helps your insurance , too). Another thing I like to do with a new bike, is to get out in a big parking lot (check for debris) and do some hard stops, slow speed turns, etc. to get familiar with what that bike will do.

Also, don't forget that for newbs and 10+ returnee's, getting past the first 1-2k miles is the hard part, after that it starts to be muscle memory. ;-)
