Welcome to the older generation.
They say if it doesn't hurt, it doesn't work......................
I'm so glad I hurt all over

But let's face it Dylan, that was an awfully long time ago for you wasn't it! Quote
I just wish I could'nt say that for you and I it's a lot longer, our 'Enry mate

18 months time I'll have to move up into the next category.
I definitely know I'm not as young as I once was. Spent last night at an outdoor party to celebrate a friends 40th. Found myself in the middle of a field at 4.30 this morning watching the sun come up, completely zonked.
Now it hurts, but it worked. I'm not relishing getting up for work tomorrow. It's been a full on two weeks of hard graft which is why I haven't been around here much. Things will calm down soon.
As for Dylan, I have to admit feeling a bit unfair about making that comment. He's actually much younger than he makes out, even though he's a lanky, fat arsed leviathan!
Gawd! I can't focus. Time for my pills and bed! Nurse?
Those of us over 50 and stateside have a number of organizations looking for us to be members, AARP and such. Here on the forum, I propose that the elder statesmen should come together for the greater good. I submit all members over 50 be encouraged, nay,(bleet-bleet)be tossed into the "OLD GOAT CLUB". I'm sure the still wet behind the ears and troubled youth will seek us out for guidence and wisdom, or just to poke us with sharp sticks.
So if you have managed to cheat death for long enough, have a hide thick enough to stand the brunt of abuse and are willing to share your lifes lessons with the lesser enlightened....please sign in.

Last time we talked, I think I was at 236. That's the most I've ever weighed. Almost 6'3" helps a bit, but yeah....
I'll show you "leviathan".
Aw D,
don't you know a compliment when you see one?
Anyway, glad the lbs are falling off you. Must be all that breast feeding though as you've said many times before, the main bulk of your mass isn't up there in those manly top bollocks of yours, more down below eh!

+1 on the Old Goats club. I will cross 62( or 63?,I cant remember) much to the chagrin of those who stated I wouldn't make 20
..and a doctor that gave me an expiration date a few years back. Not only still standing but ridin' a Hurricane. How ya like me now ?
Turned 50 last Dec and pretty much have just been cruising along, life
is so much more exciting when you riding these babies... I haven't been to advance riding school or the like but I have definitely matured in mastery of the beast, including riding in traffic as well as highways and steep winding roads. I have a car but I'd rather ride her to work if weather permits and that's a total of 94ks of riding per day, sometimes fast, sometimes in and out of traffic, trucks, lost animals and people with Alzheimer .. but seriously.. it is very challenging just to stay alive on two wheels but we all know why we do it.... cause we Looove iT!
Cheers

The arrogance of youth
I see the arrogance of youth
when they all feel they’re bullet-proof
the haughty tone and silent sneer
which in a flash can disappear
if in their world they start to fear
that they are nothing special.
They prance and preen and have no doubt
that they’re the very best about
and cannot fail at what they do
they’re different so from me, and you.
But time and worldly lessons teach
that they will also stumble
and when it happens, and it will
it gives me such a silent thrill
to see the doubt, the bitten lip
as from their pedestal they slip
and see themselves for who they are
no match for older wisdom
so if you feel a sense of pride
and seek to flaunt achievement wide
and view your elders with disdain
one day you too will feel the pain
and realise there is no gain
humiliating others
for as you learn and come of age
the book of life turns page by page
and you will find and then agree
that better men there’ll always be
who’ll take this cousel, given free
and honour those before them.
