Sudden increase in vibes?

Hi,

I've got a '93 with 63k miles. In the past few days, I feel like I can feel the vibes more. Through the grips, the seat, the pegs, everywhere. I suspect these are engine vibes as opposed to road vibes (pulling clutch at speed seems to reduce them). What could be causing this? Bike feels as strong as ever, no other sign of anything being wrong.

Thanks!

Would say that if pulling the clutch in gets rid of the vibrations then we should be looking at the clutch, with the drive disengaged no vibes ,with clutch in vibes, so some where on the transmission from the clutch to the rear, as long as all the other factors are ok (chain tension ,sprockets ok) could be looking at a clutch bearing, hard to say at this stage but check the other factors first,

Thanks for the reply. Not sure it's the clutch - if I leave it pulled in and rev the engine, the vibes come right back. You can really start feeling them around 3k rpm, which is odd because this bike is usually insanely smooth under 5k. The chain is reaching the end of its life (according to the wear meter on the swing arm), but it's currently tensioned correctly. Guess we'll see if a new chain/sprockets fixes it, but seems unlikely.

Could you be feeling a misfire? A motor that isn't hitting on all 4 will definitely vibrate.

Could be - how would I go about confirming/diagnosing that?

Thanks for the suggestion! Did that - it is noticeably better, but still not as good as it used to be. It seems to be worse on the left side of the bike - the left grip and peg seem to buzz a touch more than the right ones. Maybe it's time for that valve clearance check an adjustment that I keep procrastinating on.
