Whoa, glad you're alright, is everyone else okay? I can't believe what it did to the rear axle.

Woof you'll really have to pick a safer way to meet people........................
Nasty looking bump - front corner accidents are really the most dangerous.
Happy to see you're OK, old friend.
Eddie the Explorer goes down in history - never to be forgotten. A fine vehicle.....

Good news is that you and the Mrs are apparently all OK.

Most of that stuff on Eddie is just cosmetic; should buff out with a good cut and polish.

Bit of a coincidence that you ended up under a Dick Muri sign, given his interest in all things transport related.

(His sign didn't distract you and cause you to lose attention did it???)

And just BTW, why the **** were you driving around with a weather balloon attached to your steering wheel?

I would find that quite distracting.

Thanks for all the kind words everyone and yeah it was a hard hit. No injuries for me, but my right side feels like I've been worked over with a sock full of doorknobs.

Fortunately, I was alone and Mrs. Woof was not involved. The passenger airbag just didn't want to be left out of the party I suppose.

Now for the legal part.

Driver and passengers of the red car, a Pontiac G8 (that's a Holden Commodore to you down under), were drunk (at 11am on a Sunday morning). Open containers of vodka and beer in the car. Two passengers suffered head injuries. One critical at the scene, downgraded to stable. None were wearing seat belts. Narrowly missed a full head-on, a situation given Eddie's comparative size, would surely have resulted in a fatality or two.

Driver was charged with DUI, driving with a suspended license, two counts of reckless endangerment and one count of vehicular assault which is a felony. I attended her arraignment and she plead innocent to all charges, has retained counsel and is opting for a jury trial. She's currently in custody on $50,000 bail. Probably won't make bond, which is a bitch because I need her insurance info, if she has any. Since she wasn't cited for lack of insurance I'm holding out hope of a settlement. I was only carrying liability. I'll probably file a case in small claims and have her served while in custody

Curious to know her BAC at the time.

The newspaper report said her car "glanced" off another vehicle (mine). Sh*t, more like caromed. Ricochet might be an apt description as well.

Or?

What is it called in croquet when you put your foot on your ball and smack the other guy's ball into oblivion?

Yeah, that one.

There probably won't be any parting out of Eddie anytime soon seeing as how both cars were booked as evidence. But when it's released from evidence he's probably going to the wreckers. I'll need to get my personal stuff out so I think I'll pull the ignition cylinder out and put it in Moby, so a little bit of Eddie will still ride with us.

I've really got to stop naming my vehicles and forming attachments.

I tell you I'm grieving Eddie's loss like he was a family pet or something.

Once again, Teeks. Your humor is a tonic. Thank you.

Thanks to everyone as well. this will make have to send my sentiments to any other crash threads (knockwood) something I know I'm not very good at, but promise to improve in the future.

Quick sidebar to TK's Dick Muri reference. I used one of his campaign signs as a writing surface while filling out the accident report.

Grab a good personal injury lawyer for this one Woof, they'll be chomping at the bit for this
as it's a slam d(r)unk ! and let them do all the leg work for the insurance particulars
etc.

Seriously ......go this route as that woman deserves to be off the road for a good five
years, as she nearly killed you had she come in a at a slightly more direct angle, you
can be sure her injured passengers will be going this route too !!!!!!!!

She has no hope with an innocent plea , that will only make it a lot worse for her , imo

update

I just read the WA mandatory sentencing matrix ........ she's in deep .... very deep.
