Default Riding on the other side

I was watching the intro for the Australian Open today, and they show a car riding a twisty road near the ocean. Plus, Melbourne looks like a great place to ride. But has anyone ever ridden on the other side? I've ridden on the right for over 39 years. I could probably ride on the left out in the Outback, but I don't know about going through a city or heavy traffic. Maybe if I followed directly behind an Australian rider I could do it. But with my luck, I would probably catch a light or somehow get separated.

We ride on the left here, but you'd be surprised how fast you can adapt. It's more difficult when there's no traffic to follow......

Shadow would be right, you would adapt quickly, i have not as yet seen the intro, but from what you describe it sounds like "The Great Ocean road".

I am sure it was constructed by bikers because it is a fantastic road to ride.

We ride on the left through the UK and down to the CHUNNEL - spend 30 mins crossing the channel in a train - then ride on the right at the other end in France.

You do adapt quickly.

The wierd part is crossing the border in to Germany.
Even when cruising at 150MPH - you get passed fairly often on the Autobahn !!!

Hey Dean0 good to see you...............
Those Autobahns are something else - and they have less accidents there than on normal roads.....
I think because people concentrate on what they're doing...................

I would think that switching back and forth more often is easy. I was in England for a month once and adapted to the left side driving quickly. I had no problems until I got back home. I pulled out of my driveway and started down the road and when I came to a stop sign I noticed that it was way over to my right in the other lane. HOLY CRAP! I was on the wrong side.

Be careful when you get back home.

into the swing of things when I get back every now and then........i will say this ....see
a lot more lane splitting and generally a faster pace and roundabouts or rotarys as we
call 'em here is when the fun starts

I've driven on both the left and right side of the road , used to live in Europe and still had my right hand drive car over there , was a bit difficult for overtaking visibility , but it was only a little MGB so you could creep out enough to see.

But as everyone seems to have noticed , when you switch your brain off , things can get interesting

Interesting point Slowpoke made though , I've only ever driven a car in Europe and the States , a bike may be a little more interesting , 'cos you wont have the steering on the 'wrong side' to remind you!
