Default Not starting after a lay up.

Rather poor odds - but here goes. My CBR1000FM was last started 2 years ago (long story). Before that it had been off the road but "running". Back then I turned the ignition key, heard a "click" come from around the RHS removable side cover. I removed the cover, tried the ignition again and believe I heard a click come from the small metal cylindrical component about 3/4" (2cm) diameter and 1" (2.5cm) long. I can't tell you what it is as I can't find a parts diagram with it on (yes, I know all this is very vague). Since then, even the "clicking" has stopped. So - anyone out there got any (constructive) ideas....... Please.

Sounds like the starter solenoid. Item 10, or 9 as a set. CMSNL have the diagrams and lots of the parts that are still available (at a price!). Good luck.

Almost certainly a dead / faulty battery, try jumping her from a car battery.
