Holiday!


So, we had 10 days left before departing Australia for 6 months, about 3 months work to fit into that narrow window and too much stress about it all so - we buggered off for 4 days in the Flinders Ranges.





A needed R&R to let all the first world problems filter from our heads.





A 4wd sortie up to Nucaleena mines where they mined from 1860 to 1866 and pulled 13,000 pounds of copper from the ground at a cost of 57,000 Pounds Sterling - NOT a good investment!

The next day we heard that the Sydney to London rally cars were fuelling up at Angorichina so we dawdled our way to the store to see the cars.

A lovely Ford GT. The sticker on the back says "6 L (itres) of V8 Doing our bit to rid the earth of fossil fuels" And is sounded like it too.

After all the cars went through we walked along the creek bed to the Angorichina pools and had a swim.





And it was good

All too soon we had to pack to return to reality.

We will miss the Aussie bush while away.

Looks great! Never heard of a rally like that, must be quite the test for both the vintage cars and their crews.

 

There are lots of rallies like that. In NZ we have the Targa Rally every year.

We just have to face the fact, that we're not rich enough to be invited to join stuff like that.
