Yeah I think our French contingent is quite small (not counting French Canadian ).

Bonjour Alain, welcome to the forum, I bet you've got some very nice roads to ride in your part of the world

I'm Jon from Garland, Texas. I am thirty-eight years old and returning to school to get a teaching degree. I rode bikes when I was in high school and up to my twenties. This is my first bike in sixteen years! I missed riding badly during that time and I am excited to be riding again.

I purchased a non-running 87 last Saturday for $950 and have been working (when I have time) to get it back in order. It's up and running now but still a few things to get sorted.

Tail wiring issues
Seat latch
Rattling leavers
Front break squeak at low speeds
Missing fairings, fairing mounts

Here's a pic as is:
(see how many zip ties you can count! )

Welcome Fat Man, I'm thinking with your electrical abilities you'll have those tail light issues sorted pretty quick, after 16 years tho' just watch the throttle application issues. But have fun

After a carb rebuild it's running pretty strong. I can add more power by replacing the plugs but i am going to take advantage of the reduced power for now till I get used to it. It doesn't want to stay in second gear (pops out to neutral) but that's something i can ignore for now. Pretty neglected and naked when I got it.

Welcome to the forum.

A wise choice there Fat Man there's many a biker been born again with a bit too much confidence of starting where they left off.

She looks like a nice bike, nothing that a bit of time and love won't overcome. I think everyone on this forum probably considers their bike to be a 'work in progress', I know I've got a to do list as long as my arm

The squeaky brakes may just be the pads, mine do the same (cheap pads).

Enjoy riding her
